Linzi is a Midlands born singer songwriter & visual artist.

'I make music and artworks, I am always making something. From a young child I have been singing & writing & drawing & making.'

As a young songwriter she recorded her songs on a 4 track in her bedsit bedroom & sent the tape into a Nordoff Robbins Radio 1 competition.

This was the start of her becoming signed to Warner Chappell's.

Her debut album marks a return to working with Paul Johnston, who played drums in the first teen band Linzi was in, so it's kind of come full circle.

'The songs on 'Love & Other Stories' started as a demo; I wanted to make a record of them so they wouldn’t get lost too soon. The songs always start with the words and melodies together, they drop into my head, sometimes with images.'

'I write, arrange and co-produce the songs. I taught myself guitar so I had more independence as a song writer. I work with Paul Johnston at Rhythm Studios, who co-produces, engineers and mixes the songs, as well as playing drums, bass, keyboards and even mandolin. We carefully explored the direction of the soundscape together, and it unfolded with the beautiful playing of Marion Fleetwood on strings.'

I made the artwork for the album cover from a project called Open Book. This collection of songs explores love, sudden loss and the spaces in between.

I am inspired by poetry, melody, stories written, sung and drawn. I am influenced by artists such as Adrianne Lenker, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Sinead O’Connor. The list is long and full of beautiful songs that make life great. I hope we all keep making and sharing our perspectives of this wondrous, strange glitter ball of a world we share.

Stories are at the heart of all Linz's work, narratives weaving through words & pictures, painting soundscapes with music & poems.

'Through stories we can share & imagine & grow together. Stories are magical places. I have worked with schools, theatres & communities to bring to life stories through stage sets, music, illustration & voice. It's a rich place where everyone can thrive & everyone has something to bring, it's a place where we can suspend the outside world & create other worlds together. 

I make work out of clay, paper, threads & paint, with drawing running through all my work. Drawing is an extension of handwriting. I keep notebooks & sketchbooks for ideas, writing parts of songs & scribbling down sketches, drawing increases hand to eye coordination, it's good for your brain. I teach others to draw too, think of looking at the world as a series of shapes to map.'
